Hyderabad: Mercury hits record 38.2 degree Celsius
Hyderabad: Hyderabad sizzled at 38.2ºC on Sunday, the second highest temperature ever recorded for the month of February in the city. It was 5.8ºC above the mean maximum temperature for February for the city.
The highest-ever recorded temperature was 39.1ºC on February 26, 2009.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the present hot weather conditions might continue for the coming three-four days and is also linked to poor rainfall.
An official from the department said, “Southerly winds from the sea are blowing over the state and bringing clouds with them.
The ground is already hot due to high temperatures and lack of enough rain.
“As the sun heats up the ground due to lack of clear sky, heat gets trapped and temperatures rise. Due to low humidity levels there is no rainfall as well.”
The temperatures in Hyderabad are expected to be above 36-38ºC till February 27. Since January, temperatures in Hyderabad have been over 35ºC. However, the minimum temperatures have not shown any major rise in the city.
