3 civic elections loom, TRS looks for another sweep
Hyderabad: TRS leaders are confident of bagging all seats in the Warangal and Khammam Municipal Corporation elections on March 6.
The TRS has been winning a series of elections since the last Assembly session, including the MLC polls from local bodies, the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll, the Narayankhed Assembly byelection and the GHMC polls.
It is now concentrating on a sweep in the Warangal, Khammam and Atchampet elections to demoralise the Opposition in the Budget Session, which starts a day after the results are declared on March 9.
“We will win a majority of seats, if not all the 58 divisions, in Warangal,” said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari. Minister for roads and buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao hails from Khammam, the so-called bastion of Left parties and the Congress.
He was instrumental in the party winning the Council seat, and has been assigned the duty of ensuring a TRS sweep in the Khammam Municipal Corporation.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday appointed party working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and former MLA M. Kodanda Reddy as in-charges for overall electioneering in the Warangal corporation elections.
Party MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who was elected recently, and Alampur MLA S.A. Sampath Kumar have been named as Congress in-charges for the Khammam Municipal Corporation elections.
