Vijayawada: As the expected Budget is going to cross Rs 1,600 crore mark for the first time in the history of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, the focus has shifted to mainly on the proposals that would be made by the Mayor. The VMC Budget is going to be placed for approval of the council on Monday.
The Budget should reach the expectations of tax payers, observed Mr V. Anjaneyulu, a resident of the city. He observed that as the Krishna Pushkaralu would be celebrated in the city, the VMC should make necessary financial arrangements in this Budget itself.
Mr Anjaneyulu also said that the Budget should explain the targets and amount that is going to be spent on the various developmental as well as the infrastructure related aspects.
On the other hand, Mr D. Kasinath, another resident, observed that though the Amruth programme providing financial assistance, it was mandating the local body for its share. He explained that this would push the corporation into financial troubles.
