Wakf board urged to protect land

The government has appointed 60 Urdu officers in Grade II.

Hyderabad: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday reacted to the report on Urdu language in these columns, and reminded of his party’s efforts in securing Second Official Language status for the language in Telangana State.

Mr Owaisi, tagging the report Young take to Urdu, thanks to new tools, said on his Twitter page: ‘AIMIM had fought tirelessly for Urdu’s Second Official Language status in Telangana. Because of our efforts, today, Urdu is seeing a renaissance in the land that was once its birthplace.’’

The state government amended the Telangana Official Languages (Amendment) Bill, 2017 , as the Urdu-speaking population had increased in the state to 12.69 per cent in November 2017. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced the creation of 66 posts of Urdu officers at the instance of the MIM and TRS MLAs in the Assembly. The government has appointed 60 Urdu officers in Grade II.
