Thiruvananthapuram: Sacked KSRTC staff stage stir

They also performed a shayana pradakshinam.

Thiruvananthapuram: The dismissed KSRTC empanelled conductors have begun an indefinite satyagraha before Secretariat on Thursday, in the wake of the high court order for employing those on the PSC list.

They also performed a shayana pradakshinam.

They had earlier taken out a long march from Alappuzha to Thiruvananthapuram demanding their reinstatement.

Majority of them are facing a crisis after they lost their only means of livelihood.

Moreover, many could not get permanent employment through PSC anymore as they have exceeded the age limit.

They also accused KSRTC employees unions and the government of taking a negative stand against them. Sources said that they would shift their protest venue to the Assembly premises when the session commences on January 25.

Meanwhile, transport minister A. K. Saseendran said that the strike was intended to pressurise the government, caught in a conflict of humanitarian consideration and legality.

"Those who are on strike should make a self-introspection. There are chances that court would interpret it as a move to exert pressure for a favourable decision," he said.
