Supreme Court asks Telangana, AP to fill up vacancies for teachers
The court posted the case to the first week of March and sought compliance reports.
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Telangana and AP state governments to recruit teachers to fill all vacancies by February-end.
A division bench comprising Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Abdul Nazeer was hearing a batch of petitions seeking directions to fill up nearly 20,000 posts of teachers that are vacant.
Counsel for Telangana state said the government had completed the process and submitted that results of some exams held for the appointment of teachers were not declared due to cases in the High Court.
AP government counsel said the DSC examination was underway in Andhra Pradesh and will be completed by the end of February.
