Anand Singh is like my elder brother, says J N Ganesh

At the resort, Mr Ganesh denied a physical attack on Mr Singh and said they merely got into an argument.

Bengaluru: Suspended Congress legislator J N Ganesh said his victim Anand Singh was like his elder brother and that they were involved in a verbal spat, not fisticuffs, but the latter confirmed an assault on him at the resort in the wee hours of Sunday.

While Ramanagar (rural) police registered an 'attempt to murder' case against him, the KPCC suspended him and constituted a three member committee to probe the unsavory episode.

At the resort, Mr Ganesh denied a physical attack on Mr Singh and said they merely got into an argument.

On Monday, Ramanagar (rural) police visited the hospital where Mr Singh is undergoing treatment and recorded his statement. In his statement, Mr Singh said he was returning to his room at around 1 am, with his friends, including Mr Ganesh.

Suddenly, Mr Ganesh picked up a quarrel, accusing him of not helping him during elections and also posing problems for him in Kampli through his nephew Mr Sandeep.

Abusing him in filthy language, Mr Ganesh attacked him with a stick and a flower pot and started kicking him.

Minister Mr Thukaram, Mr Tanvir Sait, legislators Mr Raghu Murthy and Mr Ramappa intervened and saved him.

Mr Ganesh also repeatedly threatened to kill him and asked for a revolver to shoot him, Mr Anand Singh added.
