THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The AICC will announce the state committees on poll management, publicity, co-ordination and campaign this week. KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala will hold talks on the lists at Indira Bhavan here on Tuesday and fax the lists to the AICC within a day or two.
“Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who will return from abroad on Tuesday, will approve the lists. He has insisted that the committees, except that on campaign, should have only 15 members each,” said a Congress leader.
The KPCC has been told that the additional names will be rejected. Hence, Mr Mullapally and Mr Chennithala will ensure that their favourites are retained in the lists. Hectic lobbying was also on by the hopefuls to be included in these committees.
The campaign committee headed by Mr K. Murale-edharan has been asked to include nearly 30 members. During Mr Muraleed-haran’s recent trip to New Delhi, AICC general secretary in-charge of the State Mukul Wasnik had asked him to accommodate former DCC presidents in his list. He will kick off his tour of southern districts from Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday which will culminate in Ernakulam on January 29. On the same day, Mr Rahul Gandhi will address over 24,000 booth presidents and women vice- presidents.
