BENGALURU: A woman techie has lodged a complaint with the police accusing her boyfriend, also a techie, of betraying her under the pretext of getting married and having non-consensual sex after mixing sleeping pills in her coconut water.
In her complaint to HAL police, the victim, a resident of HAL, stated that her boyfriend Dinesh (29), a software engineer at a private firm and a native of Shivamogga, had non-consensual sex with her during a tour. He later promised to marry her and then betrayed.
Dinesh had booked a tour package to Murudeshwar, Gokarna, and Madikeri for two of them on December 23. While in Madikeri, the victim said, they missed the last bus and thus Dinesh told her that they have to stay in Madikeri and return to Bengaluru the next day. The victim agreed and they stayed in a homestay.
“Dinesh bought me coconut water. After consuming it, I lost consciousness and fell asleep. Taking advantage of the situation, Dinesh had sex with me,” the victim stated in her complaint.
The next morning, Dinesh apologised to the victim saying that it was a mistake on his part to have sex with her. He promised to talk to his parents about their marriage as soon as they reach Bengaluru.
However, Dinesh began distancing himself from the victim and was planning to marry another girl whom his parents had selected.
When the victim came to know about Dinesh’s plan, she approached the police and lodged a complaint on December 28. The incident came to light only on Sunday. Both Dinesh and the victim have been working in the same company for the past four years.
The HAL police registered the case and later transferred it to Madikeri police station under as the incident took place under their jurisdiction. Dinesh is said to be absconding.
