Chennai: The Marina revolution by students and youth, joined by women and children to lift jallikattu ban and protect Tamil culture has won a spectacular victory and congratulatory messages for the peaceful and determined protesters poured form various quarters.

The protesters who gathered at the beach for the last five days under chill weather of January, the coldest season in the state described as ‘munpanikalam’ in Tamil calendar have won a great victory fighting against the ban imposed by the Supreme Court on the age old sport of Tamils.

With jallikattu scheduled for Sunday in the most famous destination of Alanganallur, their vows of ‘Vaadivasal thirukkumvarai veedu vaasal poga maattome” (We will not return home till the bulls entered the jallikattu arena) had been achieved.  The student protests for jallikattu were the biggest in Tamil Nadu after the 1965 anti-Hindi agitations in its intensity and scale.
