Metro work: Traffic diversion to hit commuters, BMTC?

But this has left the BMTC worried as it believes it could suffer a big revenue loss if its bus routes are changed in the area.

Bengaluru: With the Metro work on RV Road-Bommasandra line beginning on the service road of the Jayadeva junction from Wednesday, traffic is being diverted along the route.

But this has left the BMTC worried as it believes it could suffer a big revenue loss if its bus routes are changed in the area.

“We have been told to make some changes in our route map because of the BMRCL work near the Jayadeva flyover. Although we have heard there will be no change in the traffic movement at the Jayadeva underpass, we cannot be sure as things could change at the last moment. We are working on our routes and are hoping our plan will cause our commuters the least inconvenience,” said a senior BMTC official.

Going by the proposed plan those travelling from Dairy Circle towards Central Silk Board junction will have to take a right turn at Gurappanapalya junction via 39th Cross Road, and then a left turn at East End Main Road, followed by another left turn at Marenahalli Main Road to reach Central Silk Board.

Commuters travelling from Dairy Circle towards Banashankari will have to take a right turn at Gurappanapalya junction via 39th Cross Road and then a left turn at 28th Main Road. Further on they will be required to take a right turn at Marenahalli Road to reach Banashankari.

“We have no option but to support the BMRCL in this project. So our duty is to plan accordingly and make sure we suffer no loss and our commuters are not inconvenienced too,” the officer added.
