Lok Sabha poll: PM Narendra Modi's state blitz to start in February

Claiming that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had insulted Mr Yeddyurappa, he said the BJP should not relent till he apologised.

Bengaluru: The BJP has drawn up its strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, setting deadlines for formation of Shakthi Kendras to woo voters at the booth level and drawing up a rough itinerary for both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president, Amit Shah in the state.

While Mr Modi is expected to begin his rallies in the state from February, Mr Shah will begin interacting with members of the Shakti Kendras after January 5, according to party sources.

A special meeting of the BJP in Belagavi also decided to continue with the appointment of 'Page Pramukhs,' to oversee each page of the voters' list. 'Vistaraks' have already been appointed for assembly and parliamentary constituencies and have already begun working, reveal sources.

The state unit of the party has reportedly been instructed to set up all Shakthi Kendras by December 31, with each covering four to five booths and comprising of a legal adviser, a media in-charge and a social media in-charge besides other members. Clusters of Shakthi Kendras will cover between three and five parliamentary constituencies. Mr Shah is expected to hold six to eight interactions with members of these clusters.

Most MLAs present at the meeting were reported to be unhappy at the lack of debate on North Karnataka during the session, pointing out that people of the region had hoped their problems would be discussed and solved. They advised their party chief, B S Yeddyurappa to be assertive and BJP chief whip, Sunil Kumar said the party should take every opportunity to corner the government. Claiming that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had insulted Mr Yeddyurappa, he said the BJP should not relent till he apologised.
