Vijayawada: SDRF trainees display rescue skills before DGP
Vijayawada: Over 50 SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) trainees displayed their abilities before DGP N. Sambasiva Rao at Sitanagaram on Wednesday.
Completing 16 days of training provided by the ITUS Sports & Safety Pvt. Ltd, the trainees, comprising 40 from APSP Battalion and 10 from the fire services, gave the demo successfully. The DGP appreciated them and issued the certificates.
The advanced technical rescue course has been attended by the trainees to learn world-class, technical and advanced rescue skills. The training has been conducted as part of an advanced-level to basic training that the teams have undergone with the NDRF. In the training, the staff learnt about swift water rescue, boat operations course, technical rope rescue course & scuba diving, mostly useful for retrieval of bodies or rescue from a boat's hull. The other modules will be extremely useful during floods and cyclones. The trainers have displayed the swift water rescue, boat operations, technical rope rescue skills successfully.
DGP N. Sambasiva Rao said: “As Andhra Pradesh is having 974 km long coast, there are chances of cyclones and floods occurring frequently. As of now, we have 1,000 members ready for rescue operations in the state.” CEO of ITUS Ankit and chief trainer .Jacob Vijay Kumar monitored the operations and were appreciated by the DGP and other police officers. R.K. Meena, IPS, IGP, APSP Battalions, K. Satyanarayana, IPS, DG of AP SDRF, Jayaram Naik, Director, AP SDRF and other officials were present.
