Vijayawada: Chandranna Kanuka distribution begins
Vijayawada: Minister for civil supplies Prattipati Pullarao inaugurated the distribution of Chandranna Kanuka in Vijayawada on Wednesday. He distributed the Chandranna Kanuka bags to the poor at a ration shop near Kasturibaipeta. Mr Pullarao said they would distribute sugar at ration shops from January 1, 2018. Kerosene would also be distributed in the ration shops.
From February onwards, redgram would be supplied at Rs 40 a kg at rations shops, he added. He reiterated that goods would be sold at a discount of 20 per cent on the MRP at Chandranna Village Malls. Minister for water resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said despite financial hurdles, the government has decided to distribute Chandranna Kanuka on the eve of various festivals.
District collector B. Lakshmikantham informed that 3,20,000 Chandranna Christmas Kanukas have been kept available at ration shops across Krishna district. Minister for law Kollu Ravindra, MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, nominated MLA Philip Attatcher, MLC Batchula Arjunudu and other officials, local corporators were present.
