K Jana Reddy regrets supporting T-stir

K. Jana Reddy and minister K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday ended up in an interesting duel over whom does Telangana belong to.

Hyderabad: The Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy and minister K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday ended up in an interesting duel over whom does Telangana belong to. While speaking on a discussion on the Mission Bhagiratha, finance minister Etela Rajendar used a phrase “My Telangana” in his speech.

Objecting to the TRS owning up the state exclusively to him, Congress leader Jana Reddy quipped: “Does Telangana belongs to you only?” and asked him to use “our Telangana” while referring to the state as “Telangana is belongs to all, not only yours”. Further, Mr Reddy reminded the TRS of his party’s role in achieving separate Telangana state.

Reacting to this, minister KTR said the Congress never made Telangana its own. He said the Congress did not give Telangana as the TRS under the leadership of K. Chandrasekhar Rao had forced the Congress to grant statehood to Telangana. Reacting to this, Mr Reddy said it was the Congress that was in power in the state as well as the Centre at that time and had it choose to it could have easily thwarted the Telangana movement in a minute and added that “I feel sometimes that they made a mistake”. The minister asked the Congress leader to withdraw his comments.
