Andhra Pradesh: Police go hi-tech for recruitments
Nellore: For the first time in the state, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) chip timing technology is being used for conduct of endurance run in the physical efficiency test to ensure accuracy and tamper-proof results during the ongoing recruitment process to fill vacant police constable posts here. This is in addition to standardised digital height weight devices with digital display monitors for display to the candidate and interface with the computer application for automatic data entry into data base.
Referring to the police recruitment acquiring an image of being subjective, partisan, prone to corruption, political pressures and personal prejudices over the years, senior police officials said use of advanced technology has put an end to such notions. Nellore SP Vishal Gunni said the recruitment process is transparent and foolproof without scope for any deviation now. According to the SP, biometric identification system is being followed to register the particulars and thumb impression of the candidates. The details are stored in the database and tagged with the information of the candidate.
Pole-mounted RFID readers will read the start and end time for the RFID tags enabled with the person during running race, be it 100 m or 1,600 m, and record in the system atomically. Besides RFID and other latest gadgets, the entire selection process is being videographed to avoid any controversies in future. Special Branch DSP K. Kota Reddy said they were screening 5,400 candidates, including 564 women, for the constable posts.
