Not hiding, political gain is our aim, accepts PS Sreedharan Pillai

As many as 1,000 BJP/RSS workers are camping at Sabarimala.

Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP has decided to intensify the Sabarimala agitation with an eye on the votes of the pilgrims. BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai has told the cadres and leaders that there will be no compromise on the party’s stand to make political capital out of the issue. He made his stand clear at a meeting of BJP general secretaries held in Kochi on Tuesday in the wake of the leak of Mr A. N. Radhakrishnan's controversial circular on the issue.

Apart from Mr Sreed-haran Pillai, the three state general secretaries A.N. Radhakrishnan, M. T. Ramesh and Sobha Surendran, organising general secretary M. Ganesh and joint organising general secretary K. Subhash attended the meeting.

Mr Pillai said that the protests in Sabarimala were for ‘political gain’ and that there was no point in hiding the truth.

“The party will romp home with the valuable votes of the pilgrims. Sreedharan Pillai has asked his party colleagues to intensify the protests in the coming days,” said a BJP leader.

As many as 1,000 BJP/RSS workers are camping at Sabarimala. The circular issued by ANR was not a secret and not a grave issue, sources said.

“We have been asked to bring in as many protestors as possible to Sannidhanam to counter the entry of young women. On Wednesday, union minister of state for finance and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan will visit Sabarimala,” the BJP leader said.
