K Chandrasekhar Rao sells farmers big dreams, promises utopia

KCR was addressing the Praja Ashrivada Sabha in Huzurabad and Sircilla.

Sircilla Rajanna: Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said the ‘Kaleshwaram’ project would start functioning after June, 2019 and the old Karimnagar district would become a water junction and water would be given for 365 days to the people. KCR was addressing the Praja Ashrivada Sabha in Huzurabad and Sircilla.

“Irrigation water will be given to 1 crore acres in Telangana and the state will be divided into crop colonies as far as agriculture is concerned. Crops will be cultivated on the advice of agriculture scientists,” KCR said. “Even UNO has recognized the Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bheema schemes, which are unique in nature and model schemes in the country,” he added.

KCR stated that so far families of 2500 deceased farmers had received Rs. 5 lakh insurance and they had been protected; 95 percent of them were small and marginal farmers.

He would focus on the development of the Vemulawada temple, like Yadadri, in the next government, said KCR and added that people knew better how the TRS government had developed Vemulawada under the leadership of Ramesh Babu.

“Nearly 200 food processing units will come up in Telangana and SHGs will run them taking inspiration from the popular ‘Lijjath’ papad unit which was established by a progressive woman in the Dharavi slum area of Mumbai,” said KCR. He said 1-3 units would be established in each constituency based on the local availability of crop. KCR said Lijjath papad had done wonders and was providing livelihood to thousands of women and its turnover was around '1,076 crore per annum.
