Hyderabad: Ownership transfer burdens sellers
Hyderabad: Delay in the process of transfer of ownership of vehicles is burdening former owners as they still get heavy challans in the mail. Some of the consumers say that though they have finished their formalities online, the new details are not being uploaded on time causing the confusion.
Mr S.R. Reddy complained in an online forum that, “I sold my hero karizma vehicle to an unknown person through my friend in the month of June 2018 and I signed all the transfer documents related to the transfer of ownership formality, but I found online that the new owner’s details have not been updated even after all these months.”
However transport officials say that they are continuously working on the website, there might be server issues while uploading data, and the user has to ensure that the ownership is transferred.
Mr M. Narsing rao, Inspector e-challan, said, “We often receive complaints from people stating that we are imposing a wrong challan and the vehicle does not belong to them anymore. But it is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to get it done, the one who is buying it might try to evade it thinking of the new registration charges and all.”
Mr Sathi Reddy, Telangana Auto Union President mentioned that “Many a times, financers intentionally do not transfer the ownerships and if a person sells his auto because of his financial reasons, the debt would carry forward to the new person and he would become a defaulter as well.”
