Hyderabad High Court to Telangana , Andhra Pradesh: Take care of destitutes

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to take necessary steps for those who had lost their mental stability and were staying on the streets without proper nourishment.

The bench of Chief Justice T.B. Radhakrishnan and Justice S.V. Bhatt was hearing a PIL taken up by the High Court in tune with the directions given by the Supreme Court long back to go to the rescue of mentally challenged persons because they suffered ill treatment from others even though they had not committed any crime.

The bench said, “We will involve mental health professionals, doctors, legal services authorities along with the state machinery to ensure that these unfortunate citizens are properly taken care of and are brought back to their senses and consciousness.”
