Hyderabad: Former Chief Election Commissioner Dr S.Y. Qureshi has said the Maulana Azad Urdu University has made huge progress in terms of providing quality education from school to higher education level with special focus on women’s education. He said Manuu had emerged as a convergent point of educational, social, cultural and national activities of the country.
Addressing the 7th Convocation of Manuu as chief guest, Qureshi lauded the achievements of the University in a span of two decades and said he felt that achievements and progress were a perfect tribute to the education policies of Maulana Azad.
He advised the Muslim community to focus on education and avail facilities available at the varsity. Islam stresses on imparting education, but Muslims are quite backward in education, he said. He stressed on upholding democratic values and to use the power of votes.
Vice Chancellor Dr Mohd Aslam Parvez said the University awarded 2,288 degrees in the regular category and 21,152 degrees in distance mode, including 50 PhDs, 94, MPhils, 811 Postgraduates and 1,133 Undergraduate degrees in regular mode in various disciplines.
