Congress MLAs horrified' by situation at Sabarimala

There is no guarantee that the pilgrims can return to the base camp at Nilakkal in time to catch the same bus after darshan.

Thiruvananthapuram:The three Congress MLAs who visited Sabarimala on Monday were horrified by the situation prevailing there due to the lack of basic facilities. The MLAs, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash and V. S. Sivakumar, will submit a report to Governor P. Sathasivam and the KPCC leadership about the plight of the pilgrims due to government apathy.

Mr Thiruvanchoor told DC that the LDF government had wasted precious time after the floods to improve the facilities at Sabarimala.

“Pinarayi Vijayan government came up with flimsy reasons not to do anything for the pilgrims. Nilakkal had not experienced any floods and the government could have ensured more amenities there. The pilgrims are being fleeced by the KSRTC which charges '80 for the Nilakkal–Pamba–Ni-lakkal trip via online booking,” he said.

There is no guarantee that the pilgrims can return to the base camp at Nilakkal in time to catch the same bus after darshan.

Tantri Rajeevararu Kantararu and the new melsanthi V.N. Vasudevan Namboodiri have to go through the metal detectors. “Do you think they are terrorists? This is for the first time in the history of Sabarimala that they were asked to pass through metal detectors,” he added
