Chennai: Relief materials to be sent to Nagapattinam
Chennai: Anna University has collected various relief materials including plastic sheets, mosquito coils, candles and medicines to hand over to the cyclone-affected people in Nagapattinam district.
"The students and staff members have collected over Rs 1 lakh. With this fund, we have bought over 40 plastic sheets to put up the temporary shelters for homeless people. Since heavy rains predicted for the next few days in coastal districts, we also bought medicines," said Professor S.Srinivasalu from Institute of Ocean Management, Anna University.
The team will carry tablets like Calpal, Crocin and pain relieving balms like Zandu balm and Amrutanjan.
Officials from Madras University said that efforts are on to donate one day's salary of staff members towards the cyclone relief fund.
On behalf of Kancheepuram district. the educational officials and private schools, a truckload full of relief materials were sent to the Thanjavur district.
