Renovation saga continues in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Though Cyclone Hudhud devastated the city, the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) has been successful in rebuilding the lost glory with the funds supported by the state government and other organisations. Vuda has already restored several parks damaged during the cyclone including Vuda Park, Tenneti Park, Thotlakonda and Biodiversity Park. There is a plan to give the Mudasarlova Park a facelift.
According to Vuda officials, a consultant will be selected to make a detailed project report (DPR) as soon as the architect submits drawings of the proposal. The budget estimation will be prepared by the consulting agency. An Ahmedabad-based firm, Sai Consultancy, is preparing the DPR for the re-development of Kailasagiri hill. It has charged Rs 3.65 crore to do the supe-rvising work and to hand over the DPR. The project will be funded by the World Bank.
The Roads and Build-ings (R&B) department recently handed over the Payakaraopeta main road project to Vuda. The four-lane of 2 km road project will be constructed at a cost of '6 crore, a Vuda official said. He announced an upd-ate on the road leading to Visakha Valley School. The forest department has given clearance to build 40-feet road of one km length. This project is estimated to cost Rs 3 crore.
Vuda recently called for tenders for the construction of an open auditorium at Peda Gantyada, near Gajuwaka. It is working on the approximate budget of this project to finalise the tenders. Initially, the urban body has proposed to build a Kalyanamandapam at Chinamushidivada with a capacity of 350 people. Now, it wants to construct it with the capacity of 650 people. The budget will remain the same at Rs 5 crore. The construction of an indoor sports complex was started at Gopalapatnam three months ago at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore, the officials informed.
