Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court adjourned a batch of petitions against the action of private doctors and medical establishments going on strike, to January. The court was made aware of private doctors and medical establishments calling off their strike.
The advocates for the petitioners argued seeking action against doctors as reportedly several people died after they were unable to get proper medical aid due to the strike.
The petitioners sought compensation to the families of the victims who died under such circumstances.
They said the Karnataka Medical Council should cancel the registration of doctors and licence of hospitals that were part of the strike.
Ban on diesel engine autos challenged
The High Court ordered a notice to the state government following a petition challenging a notification banning the registration of four-stroke passenger autorickshaws fitted with diesel engines. An autorickshaw company has moved the court against the ban.
Deletion in voters’ list questioned
Former minister S.A. Ramadass has filed a PIL challenging the recent action of the Mysuru district administration, deleting at least 26,069 voters from the electoral list. He alleged that the authorities have deleted the names of several voters in the four assembly constituencies of Mysuru on the ground that they are ‘dead’, though they are alive. In other cases, the names have been take off citing that they have shifted residence, while they have not, the petition states.
