Vigilance seeks feedback from public in Thiruvananthpuram
Thiruvananthpuram: As part of its creative vigilance strategies, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau is collecting feedback from the public on the level of corruption in various government sectors. Their opinions are also sought of the children of public servants studying in colleges or schools paying capitation fees and the involvement of public servants in businesses.
The feedback is being collected online through the portal 'vigilance.kerala.gov.in' as well as by distributing questionnaires to the public directly. The aim is to create an anti-corruption index after evaluating the feedback.
“We have prepared the questionnaire using some proxy indicators. After evaluating the feedback, fresh indices will be prepared. This would give more focus to the anti-corruption activities of the VACB,” Vigilance director Jacob Thomas told DC.
A set of 20 questions has been prepared on corruption in various sectors like food safety, waste management, environment, construction, land filling, taxes and medical practitioners getting favours from private labs or pharma companies. The people have to indicate whether corruption is low, medium, high or very high in each sector. The willingness of the participants in taking part in anti-corruption activities is also sought.
The questionnaires will be distributed among students through National Social Service scheme volunteers, NGOs working in the field of anti-corruption and libraries in rural areas. The feedback will be collected for about one to two weeks, said Mr. Thomas.
