Kamareddy (NZB): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday promised that within a year of the Congress coming to power, 1 lakh jobs would be given to the youth in Telangana.
“We will pay Rs 3,000 as monthly allowance to unemployed youth,” Mr Gandhi said, addressing the first election meeting held in Bhainsa on Saturday.
Speaking about the farm loan waiver, Mr Gandhi said that the waiver of '2 lakh would be given in one go. “If you (farmers) want to clarify farm loan waiver assurance ask your counterparts in Karnataka” he said.
Mr Gandhi was in Telangana to kick off the election campaign for the Assembly polls that will be held on December 7.
Speaking at a public meeting held at the Government Arts and Science Degree College grounds, Rahul Gandhi said that the TRS had assured jobs to each family in Telangana, but it failed to fill 10,000 posts in the last four years.
Mr Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He said, “The Rafale scam has exposed the true colours of Mr Modi. His friend Anil Ambani benefitted”. In the same manner, KCR is also minting money, by redesigning irrigation projects and throwing Telangana into debts, he added
The people of Telangana aspired a bright future for the newly formed state and believed in KCR’s leadership in last elections. But the formation of TS has benefitted only the KCR family members, he added.
If Congress is voted to power it would give due representation to different sections of the society. Mr Gandhi criticised KCR for insulting Ambedkar by removing his name from the Pranahita Chevella lift irrigation scheme and renaming it as the Kaleshwaram project. “If you (people) want to listen to false promises, then go to the meetings of Mr Modi and KCR, I am not here to give false promises” he added.
Touching on local issues, Mr Gandhi said that KCR did not have funds to reopen the Nizam Sugar factory, but he managed to construct his house at a cost of '300 crore. Congress leaders R.C. Kuntia, S. Jaipal Reddy, K. Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Madhu Yashki Goud, K. Madan Mohan Rao and others were also present.
Mr Gandhi said that the issue of Gulf migrant workers would be addressed. He also said that the '7,000 minimum support price would be provided for cotton crop.
