Hyderabad: Kids whose mother died in operation get Rs 3 lakh

Following the complaint, the department promptly took up the case and solved it in about a month's time.

Hyderabad: The Civil Supplies department came to the rescue of three children who lost their mothers in a family planning operation and the registered medical practitioner gave them a compensation of Rs 3 lakh on Saturday.

Following the complaint, the department promptly took up the case and solved it in about a month’s time. It also helped the children get compensation, which was then handed over to them by the Civil Supplies Department Commissioner Akun Sabharwal. Santosha, 45, from Koudepally village of Medak, went to the local nursing home for family planning operation, officials said.

“On March 20, an RMP (Registered Medical Practitioner) at the said nursing home performed an operation, but unfortunately, it went wrong and she breathed her last the next day, following which, her three children were left in the care of their uncle who filed a case claiming that his sister had died due to the RMPs’ negligence,” said the official,

The official added that as they fell short of funds to fight the case, he approached the consumer helpdesk which offers legal aid to victims free of cost.

A notice was then served to the RMP and the case was solved in one month’s time, concluding with him agreeing to pay Rs 3 lakh to the children of Santosha.
