7 cyber police stations to come up in AP: RP Thakur
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh DGP R.P. Thakur said that 25 model police stations and seven cyber police stations would be established across the state.
Participating in the Police Commemoration Week celebrations on Saturday and addressing the gathering, he recalled that 440 policemen sacrificed their lives this year across the country of which six martyrs belonged to AP State. He said that various programmes like essay writing, elocution, open house were conducted during police commemoration week where students took part who were explained about the police department services.
Mr Thakur said that the police department provided Rs 3.85 crore to the families of police martyrs who sacrificed their lives doing the job. He said that the department helps their families in all possible manners. Asserting on the need for physical fitness and good health among the police, he said that the department conducts health camps frequently besides sports events to keep the police staff fit. He said that police department measures for the welfare of home guards giving good results.
Mr Thakur said that a rest house has been constructed at Tirumala for the police department while wellness and fitness centers were coming in all the districts for police. He said that police stations across the state would be turned into model police stations and stated that construction of 25 model police stations will be completed by next year. He stated that seven cyber police stations with '16 crore would be constructed and 700 body over cameras given to policemen. He said that AP police follows friendly policing but stern actions would be taken against criminals.
