M Venkaiah Naidu to attend Durban Tamil conference
CHENNAI: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will participate in the 4th World Tamils Economic Conference which commences on Nov. 16 at Durban, South Africa. The three-day event will showcase the many facets of Tamils and Indian community from various countries such as South Asia, America, Austraia, Europe, East Asia, the Middle East and African continent.
Informing that the Vice President has consented to participate, V.R.S. Sampath, convener of World Tamils Economic Conference, said Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu have accepted the invitation. “We are waiting for their confirmation,” Mr. Sampath added.
Prime Minister of Guyana Mr. Veerasamy Nagamootoo, Vice President of Mauritius Mr. Paramasivum Pillay Vyapooory, Indian High Commissioner to South Africa Ms. Ruchira Kamboj and Deputy Mayor of Durban Fawzi Asmal Peer would take part. “In addition, the governments of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry have agreed to participate in the conference in which TN Ministers Sampath (Industries) and K. Pandiarajan (Tamil Culture and Developemnt) would take part in the conference to be held at International convention centre, Durban,” Mr. Sampath told reporters here on Friday.
The main aim of the conference being organised by the Madras Development Societry, is to promote dialogue among Tamils and Indians with international community, business leaders and professionals worldwide so as to create close cooperation and partnership for economic development. The firsrt conbference wss held in Chennai in 2009. Former Justices of Supreme Court of India A.R. Lakshmanan and Vallinayagam will also be participating in this conference.
