Bengaluru: Former IAS officer S.M. Jamdar suspects that journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh and academic M.M. Kalaburgi were murdered because of their support for a separate religious tag for the Lingayat-Veerashaiva community. Mr Jamdar told reporters here on Friday that he too was receiving threats for participating in the movement and was being provided security by the government. He recalled that a month before she was murdered, Gauri had published a 21 -page edition supporting the cause of a separate religious tag for the Lingayat-Veerashaiva community. “Mr Kalaburgi too had backed the cause. Enough blood has been shed on this issue,” Mr Jamdar said.
