Hyderabad: Prison unit to help beggars, mentally-ill

Hyderabad: Mr. Vinoy Kumar Singh, director-general of Telangana Prisons, on Friday said that the department was all set for taking care of beggars and mentally-unstable persons in the city.
Speaking at a press conference after launching two shelters with a capacity of 200 persons each at Cherlapally and Chanchalguda for male and female beggars, Mr. Singh said, “The department will focus more on the eradication of begging from the city. We give counseling them and will provide jobs with prisons industries like petrol bunks.”
