Hyderabad: Telugu students of IIT Kharagpur made a Diwali display in their campus with more than 20,000 diyas. According to students, this is IIT Kharagpur’s Diwali culture ever the years.
Though the decoration is not part of any project, it runs like a competition among all hostel students. Each hall is given different themes and designs which include the rangoli competition.
The display started 45 days ahead of Diwali and students spent hours practising it. Students used various natural materials like diyas, oil, natural colours and different properties for making the rangoli.
Students arranged diyas in different shapes of Lord Ram and Ravanasur to give them a good display and they lit more than 20,000 diyas.
Students and professors dress traditionally on the occasion and visited temples of Goddess Kaali Maatha.
