Hyderabad: Regularisation of illegal layouts, plots and gram kantham lands came back into focus after a gap of one year.
The state government on Tuesday constituted a Cabinet sub-committee headed by minister for municipal administration and urban development K.T. Rama Rao to look into the issues pertaining to unauthorised layouts, regularisation of plots and house sites, gram kantham lands.
The committee comprises ministers T. Harish Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, V. Srinivas Goud, Ch. Malla Reddy and Sabitha Indra Reddy as members. The committee will examine these issues and recommend measures to the government on how to go ahead with the regularisation scheme which got stuck in legal wrangles last year.
The government received Rs 25 lakh applications when it launched the LRS scheme in September last year, which are pending due to court cases even after a year.
The government earned Rs 250 crore through application fees alone and hoped to garner another Rs 3,000 crore through LRS fees. At this stage, petitions were filed in the High Court and Supreme Court against the LRS. The case is now pending with the Supreme Court.
However, the government started making fresh attempts to get clearance in the Supreme Court in July.
It directed officials to process all the applications, conduct inspections at ground-level and submit a report on how many applications were eligible for LRS so that a report could be submitted to the Supreme Court on this issue.
But there was no development on this issue later. The Cabinet sub-committee will now look into all these issues and recommend measures to expedite the process.
