TRS MLAs feel the pressure from jobless

In the ongoing budget session of the Assembly on Friday, MLAs of the ruling party and opposition parties brought up the matter of the AP Bill.

Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti government and its MLAs and ministers are under pressure from the unemployed after the Andhra Pradesh government passed a Bill reserving jobs for locals in private companies and industries.

In the ongoing budget session of the Assembly on Friday, MLAs of the ruling party and opposition parties brought up the matter of the AP Bill.

Bellampally MLA Durgam Chinnaiah said in the House that local youth are not getting jobs in the Oriental Cement Company in Bellampally and requested the Chief Minister to ensure that they get jobs in the company.

Congress MLA Rajagopal Reddy told the House that a lot of pharmaceutical companies are located in the Choutuppal area but they have given not even 100 jobs to the local unemployed.

He demanded that the state government take steps to control the pollution from pharmaceutical companies and ensure a greater percentage of jobs go to the locals.

Ramgundam MLA Korukanti Chander said that Ramgundam Fertiliser, which was re-opened recently, has not provided even 10 per cent of jobs to the local youth.

He requested Industries Minister K T Rama Rao to take up the issue and instruct private industries and companies to give preference to the local unemployed during recruitment.

In addition to the state capital Hyderabad, a large number of companies and industries exist in the districts of Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mancherial, Nizamabad apart from Medak.
