More traffic wardens to be named for Bengaluru
Bengaluru: The City police is planning to increase the strength of the traffic wardens, who also play an important role by assisting the traffic police personnel while regulating traffic movement.
Recently, the City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, tweeted saying ‘We plan to work differently to improve the traffic conditions. We are raising the traffic wardens number from 390 to 2500. Requesting, the voluntary spirit of Bengaluru to join us as traffic wardens. Contact one of your nearest traffic police stations. As commissioner inviting you on board.’
“The traffic wardens play a huge role in helping the traffic cops on the roads who regulate the traffic movements. Their services are used during the weekends on major roads where traffic movement is heavy or during such times when there are processions or rallies. At times, they volunteer to work with us even on weekdays,” a senior traffic police official said.
“It would be helpful for us if their strength is increased, as we can easily handle the heavy traffic flow, which we witness during the weekends. These wardens are also trained and they have an understanding on how to handle the traffic flow,” he added.
“We would like youngsters to be part of this voluntary service, as they would get an understanding of the traffic on the road and they can use this experience to spread the message of road safety,” another police officer said.
“We are working towards carrying out various plans with the help of traffic wardens. As they are working in corporate companies or other jobs they can start creating awareness in their group about the traffic rules,” he added.
