Hyderabad: With a view to curtail crimes by preventing them, the Director Generals of Police of five states, including Telangana, met today. A Southern Regional Coordination Committee meeting was held at Hyderabad in which senior officials from AP, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Puducherry participated.
During the meeting, the committee discussed matters related to coordination between the police in crime prevention and detection, matters related to the investigation of cyber crimes and related issues.
Telangana Director General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy said that sharing databases of offender profiles between states, issues related to the investigation of cyber crimes and the IT Act, sharing of databases related to drugs offenders and organised crimes and criminals, and also records of foreigners who migrated to the country and are living in different states would be helpful.
He said that the committee also decided to appoint a nodal officer for all the states for better coordination related to the discussed issues and it was also decided to form small functional groups for the implementation of various decisions taken during the meeting.
AP DGP D. Gautam Sawang, Kerala DGP Lokanath Behera, Karnataka DGP Neelamani N. Raju, Tamil Nadu DGP J.K. Tripathy, Maharashtra DGP Subodh Kumar Jaiswal and Puducherry DIG Ishwar Singh, and senior police officials from Telangana attended the meeting.
