Telangana government to compensate Pranay's kin
Hyderabad: Six days after the brutal killing of Pranay, a Dalit, the Telangana state has responded and announced compensation for the victim’s family.
The state government has announced a double bedroom house, agricultural land and Rs 8.25 lakh as financial assistance for Amrutha Varshini, the widow.
Meanwhile Retired High Court Justice B. Chandra Kumar, and president of Telangana Praja Party was amongst those who visited Pranay’s residence and consoled Amrutha Varshini and Pranay's parents.
Speaking to the media he said, “Pranay Act should be brought about by the Union Government to protect couples who choose inter-caste marriage. A fast-track court should be set up to punish the culprits at the earliest.”
There should be provisions to give protection, not just counselling or accommodation.
Ensure that job opportunities are given for the couple who opt for intercaste marriage, added Mr Kumar.
