Visakhapatnam: Alleging that corruption has touched its peak, former minister and veteran leader from Anakapalle Dadi Veerabhadra Rao said that the ruling TD was much worse than the Congress on this front. He demanded that the SIT report pertaining to the land scam in Vizag be tabled in the Assembly for the knowledge of the public.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Mr Rao said that except for corruption and land-grabbing, nothing was happening in Andhra Pradesh and squarely blamed the TD government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for all the ills plauging the state.

He demanded that the government immediately publish the Special Investigation Team report on the Vizag land scams and put it up for public scrutiny on the internet. The people would know who was behind all the land grabbing and tampering of land records in the port city, he said.

The former minister also demanded criminal action against those involved in land-grabbing. He said that government land worth several crores had been grabbed. When Opposition leaders and some within the ruling party had demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation, the government in order to cover up the scams had appointed an SIT.

“Mr Naidu is scared to release the SIT report because some ruling party members including ministers are involved in the land- grabbing. He is not taking the risk because the elections are just nine months away,’’ Mr Veerabhadra Rao said. He said the SIT had received 2,574 petitions but investigated only 354, without explaining why the others were left in the cold storage. “The people are scared that they will be unable to protect their lands if the criminals with the support of political leaders are left scot-free.
