Police makes key arrest in Abhimanyu murder case
Kochi: The police team probing the Abhimanyu murder case on Friday arrested one more person who was directly involved in the murder.
The arrested person has been identified as Arif Bin Salim (25) of Aluva, the second accused in the case. The accused was the district president of Campus Front of India (CFI). According to police, he was present at the location when the clash between SFI and CFI activists happened in which Abhimanyu was stabbed to death.
"The accused was along with the key accused in the case at the time of murder," a senior police official said. Earlier on Monday, a lookout notice was released for eight people of the accused in connection with the case. Nineteen people, including Arif, have been arrested so far. Apart from Arif, the notice was issued against 12th accused Muhammed Shaheem (31) of Cherthala, 14 th accused PM Fayis (20) of Aluva, 9th accused VN Shifas (23) of Palluruthy, 10 th accused Sahal Hamsa (21) of Nettoor, 11th accused Jisal Razak (21) of Palluruthy, 15th accused Thanseel Muhammedkutty (25) of Fort Kochi and 16thaccused Sanid Hamsa (26) of Nettoor.
On July 2, Abhimanyu M, a second year Chemistry student at Maharaja's College in Ernakulam was stabbed to death at the back gate of the college past midnight.
