No Congress MLA going to Maharashtra: Eshwar Khandre

Mr Khandre said he had personally spoken to a few legislators and all of them were very much in their respective constituencies.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) Working President Eshwar Khandre has pooh-poohed reports that the Congress is planning to send its legislators to Maharashtra to protect them poaching by the BJP and termed them as an attempt to tarnish the image of the coalition government. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr Khandre said he had personally spoken to a few legislators and all of them were very much in their respective constituencies. However, a few MLAs had gone on tour with their families and some were out of town on personal work. None of them had gone to join the BJP, he asserted.

Mr Khandre also said a lot of work has been happening in the last one and a half months but in spite of this, canards are being spread regarding the stability of the coalition government headed by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. "I am reiterating that no Congress MLA will quit the party and the BJP's attempts to destablise the Kumaraswamy government will not succeed," he said adding that people were watching the saffron party closely and they would teach the BJP a
big lesson in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Mr Khandre however admitted to some dissatisfaction in the Congress as the number of ministerial aspirants has increased. On the controversy pertaining to Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar, he demanded that BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra should reveal to the nation how he could lay hands on documents of the I-T and ED wings with regard to the raids on the Delhi premises of the minister in 2017. “The raids on Mr Shivakumar's properties were politically motivated, the minister will face them legally," he added.
