Hyderabad: Chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar on Thursday said the Election Commission will conduct mock polling with new third generation EVMs and VVPATs, being used in upcoming Assembly elections in state for the first time.
He said the mock polling will be held in the presence of political parties and people in randomly selected constituencies to verify how their vote tallies with the result and to prove that the new EVMs were tamper-proof. He said the new EVMs will reach all the districts by September 22.
“Out of 31 districts, 23 have received EVMs so far. The remaining will be get the EVMs by September 22,” Mr Kumar said.
He said there were about 18 lakh voters, including those newly registered from September 1 when the draft list was released.
