Telangana government told to give details of vaccination drive

The bench directed counsel to file details of the programme by October 3.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has directed the TS government to place details of ongoing measles-rubella immunisation drive for children under the age of 15 years.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J. Uma Devi was dealing with a PIL by Dr. Sri Krishna of Hyderabad and another seeking to declare as illegal the refusal of certain schools to allow vaccination camps in their premises.

A. Sanjeev Kumar, special counsel for the state government, submitted that as of now, 97 per cent of the children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years have been vaccinated and in the coming days, 100 per cent vaccination of about 90 lakh children in the state would be completed.

He said that the government is explaining about benefits of vaccination but it cannot force parents who are not willing to get their children vaccinated.

The bench directed counsel to file details of the programme by October 3.
