Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu police escort motorists to safety

Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru police are leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the people reach safely to their destinations.

Bengaluru: While the situation on the state’s border with Tamil Nadu remains tense over Cauvery issue, the policemen of both states have brought smiles on the faces of commuters travelling from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka. The Tamil Nadu police and their counterparts in Bengaluru are leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the people reach safely to their destinations.

Hareesh Jayaraman, an IT professional, who was travelling to the city from Coimbatore, thanked Tamil Nadu police for escorting his Karnataka registration car till Bengaluru.

Jayaraman took to social media and thanked the police of both the states on Monday and said, “As we started our journey from Coimbatore, I was stopped at the very first toll gate and told to park my car aside as it was KA registration vehicle. I was wary and not sure what was going to happen as there was tension on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border due to Cauvery dispute. But, soon the worry began to fade away as I noticed around 20 cars, all with Karnataka registration number plates, were stopped and we're waiting at the side.”

“Within minutes, to my surprise, one officer came and announced that he is going to come with me in my vehicle as an escort for our safety and that all others cars are to follow mine and stick together. From then on we stopped at each toll plaza or the next city limit, waited and assembled all cars with KA registration (specifically only KA registration vehicles due to the sensitive issue All TN or KL ones were allowed to go) and the in next district the police or highway patrol’s vehicle took over the escort role of the convoy. They accompanied us till the Karnataka border to ensure we reached safe,” added Jayaraman.

Another IT professional, Swamy Narayan, a native of Walayar in Tamil Nadu thanked Bengaluru police after he was safely escorted by the city police till the Tamil Nadu border. He said, “The policemen ensured that all cars bearing TN registration reach the border safely. The cops at highway were courteous and made sure that we have sufficient petrol/diesel in our cars to reach to our respective destinations.”
