Thrissur: The brothers of slain Congress leader Naushad from Punna here on Tuesday alleged that the cops investigating the murder by SDPI activists was ineffective and have financial dealings with the accused.
Speaking to media here on Tuesday near Chavakkad here the murdered leader’s brother Kamarudheen said the case must be handed over to NIA soon.
“It has been three weeks after the murder in which nearly 20 bike borne SDPI men with swords murdered Naushad. Only two men were arrested and they were handed over by SDPI leaders. We showed the hiding place of the accused to investigating officers and have in open named persons involved in the crime. Even then, the police is afraid of arresting them,” Kama-rudheen said. A team led by Kunnamkulam ACP T.S. Sinoj is investigating the murder. “We will soon make public names of cops who have financial dealings with SDPI and are planning to meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for a NIA probe,” Azeez and Yusaf,who are brothers of Naushad, said.
Naushad was an active Congress leader in his segment which is a part of Chavakkad Municipality. Several SDPI men had also crossed over to Congress after getting attracted by the working style of Naushad.
