VIJAYAWADA: TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at YSR Congress Government for failing to provide any relief to the flood affected people.
The former CM arrived here on Tuesday and visited several flood-hit areas in and around Vijayawada and inquired with the affected people about the relief provided by the State Government. The flood victims alleged that they got no relief from the State Government and they even alleged that they were not even provided with proper food when they were shifted to the relief camps.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu slammed the State Government even for failing to come to the rescue of flood victims by providing proper relief to them. He alleged that the State Government totally failed in providing any relief to the flood-affected people. He urged the State Government to take up the construction of the retaining wall to the flood bank of Krishna river in vulnerable areas to avoid their inundation and causing trouble to the people. He also demanded to issue Pattas to the affected people.
Later, turning his attention on flood water touching his rented accommodation at Undavalli, Mr Naidu alleged that the State Government conspired to deliberately inundate his rented accommodation by suddenly releasing huge quantum of water. He said that if the State Government could release water from the projects in a phased manner, assessing the gravity of the situation, it could have avoided flooding of several low-lying areas downstream Krishna river, from Prakasam barrage, affecting thousands of people and submerging crops being raised on thousands of hectares of area.
He said that though his house at Undavalli remained unaffected due to the floods, the State Government’s failure to take up proper flood management measures affected a large number of poor people.
He alleged that Krishna river witnessed State Government prompted floods as it failed to handle the flood situation properly and said that the river did not witness natural floods.
He slammed the YSR Congress Government for closing the Anna Canteens and opined that had that canteens been working, they could have helped the flood-hit people to overcome their hunger by getting food from them. He also castigated the State Government for serving notice to his house, to vacate it in his absence.
He found fault with CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for making so many promises and failing to implement them.
