Kollam: Assaulted Plus-II student succumbs

Kollam: A Plus-Two student from Government Higher Secondary School at Anjalumoodu fainted and died in the school on Monday after he was allegedly attacked by students from another batch.

Libin Santhosh, 17, son of Santhosh of Matha Bhavan at Ashtamudi and second-year commerce student, was standing in the corridor of the school along with his friends after lunch in the classroom on the first floor when he fainted. He was rushed to a private hospital at Kadavoor where he was declared as brought dead.

It is learnt that there were rivalries and clashes between the science and commerce stream of students from the beginning of the academic year. A WhatsApp audio clip received by Libin’s relatives said he was assaulted by a group of students and that he had received a blow on the backside of his head. The autopsy was conducted at the Government Medical College at Parippally on Tuesday.

The Anjalumoodu pol-ice on Tuesday registered a case for unnatural death and said further investigations will be carried out on the basis of the autopsy report.

The school authorities, however, denied that there was any issue between the students that could end up in a physical bout.
