Andhra Pradesh land process for railways

Pointing out that if land acquisitioning was not taken up in-time for sanctioned railway projects, it could result in cost escalation of the projects.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary L.V. Subramanyam assured that efforts would be taken to expedite the process of acquiring land for the various railway projects and handing over the same to the railway authorities to help them complete their works.

At a review meeting on taking up different railway projects in the state with South Central Railway general manager Gajanan Mallya and other officials here on Tuesday, the Chief Secretary asked the SCR GM to complete all railway projects in an expeditious manner.

Referring to the construction of approach roads to 17 railway over bridges, the CS said the state government had earlier committed to support the work financially and they would do so. He said for the execution of approach roads to ROBs to be taken up hereafter, the railway authorities will have to bear the expenses given the state government’s precarious financial situation.

Pointing out that if land acquisitioning was not taken up in-time for sanctioned railway projects, it could result in cost escalation of the projects. He felt the need to take up land acquisition for railway projects on priority basis.

The CS asked the SCR general manager to develop Tirupati railway station and provide modern facilities like escalators, toilets, cloak rooms and rest rooms.
