AK Antony flays PM Modi for Kashmir bifurcation

AICC general secretary Oommen Chandy said that Rajiv Gandhi\'s memories remain in people\'s hearts despite Modi trying to defame him.

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader A.K. Antony has come down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for cancelling the special status accorded to Jammu and Kashmir.

"When we speak of India, it is not soil alone, but it has people's heart in it. Eventually those who have been praising Modi will realise the danger his move has posed to the country," said Antony while speaking at former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's 75th birthday celebrations at Indira Bhavan here on Tuesday.

KPCC president Mullapally R-amachandran also criticised Modi saying that democracy had been compromised and that Modi had not bothered to discuss the Kashmir issue in the Lok Sabha. AICC general secretary Oommen Chandy said that Rajiv Gandhi's memories remain in people's hearts despite Modi trying to defame him. Modi had failed to prove his charges against Rajiv Gandhi who revolutionised the telecom sector in India, he said. Antony told reporters later that the KPCC revamp will be completed without hiccups. K. Muraleedharan MP had shot off a letter on Monday to Mullapally Ramachandran to go ahead with the revamp. The party leaders had also urged Antony to complete the recast without delay.

Antony also donated Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.
