Hyderabad: Fire certificate mandatory for bars, pubs
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has asked owners of bars, pubs and restaurants to follow fire safety norms as prescribed by the civic body and obtain a certificate by August 30. The fire safety certificates will be available on the GHMC official website www.ghmc.gov.in. City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan along GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and Viswajit Kampati, Director Vigilance and Disaster Management Cell, held a review meeting with the owners. The GHMC commissioner said that the corporation would take stern action against all bars, pubs and restaurants in the city if they failed to obtain fire safety certificates by August 30.
The Commissioner, while interacting with the owners, said that the meeting was being conducted to have a clear understanding of the procedures to be adopted for obtaining the certificate in the interest of the safety of citizens.
The Commissioner said that approximate cost of fire-fighting equipment for 1000 sq.m floor area would be Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.
Mr Janardhan Reddy that every owner should apply for the fire safety certificate before August 30 and in case of failure to do so, their business establishments would be seized without any further notice.
